PLANT-BASED? "Plant-based means food that comes from plants and doesn’t include animal ingredients such as meat, milk, eggs, or honey.", stated by Forks Over Knives.
VEGAN? "A person who does not eat or use animal products."
(There are many definitions out there on each of these that vary slightly).
WHAT ARE WE? A mix of all three of the above! We happily strive to be as close to whole food plant based everyday. It is the goal, as this is what makes us both feel our absolute best!!! Yet, there are days when we eat forms of sugar, oils and processed foods. We try to keep this minimal and are aware of the quality of processing and ingredients if we do, but it is still consumed at times. We don't let it throw us off track or allow it to fill us with guilt. Our bodies alert us now when we have gotten off course and we are happy to jump back on that "feel good" train of eating whole food plant-based.
FALAN, has been plant-based since the end of 2016 and has transitioned into a plant-based-vegan where animals, the environment, and health play a role in what goes into her body and how she lives. Is it perfect all the time, no, but is important to her to always eat at least vegan now, while trying her best to live a vegan lifestyle as well. Her family; her husband of 11 years and three kids 11, 9, and 7 years old have been plant-based vegans for over two years now. As they get older it is getting more interesting in both good and hard ways, yet the focus on education behind why we choose to plant-based and vegan is at the forefront of conversations as we do not live in a community where being plant-based is the norm. Yet, we forge on!
AVERY, has been plant-based since June 2018 and is more conscious each day of the products she purchases and how they are made.
